Job Overview:

Our Art Directors use every tool in their arsenal to make our clients’ work stand out. Combining management ability with breathtaking design, compelling storytelling and big ideas, our new Art Director will concept like a pro and have a history of delivering big. As Art Director, you will:

  • Possess a passion for design and execution and have a positive mindset and collaborative attitude (we’re all one team)
  • Establish the look and feel of creative campaigns online and off using a combination of strategic, conceptual and management skills.
  • Provide instruction and leadership to designers working on your projects
  • Attend business and client creative pitches
  • Challenge new ways of thinking within the agency that will lead to beautiful, strategically sound work
  • Cooperate with the rest of the creative team across different types of media
  • Generate clear ideas and concepts in tandem with the copywriting and digital marketing teams
  • Understand marketing initiatives, strategic positioning and target audience.
  • Take work from concept to final execution within deadlines.
  • Manage and delegate responsibilities to other designers and provide directions.
  • Present completed ideas to clients/team members
  • Awareness of current (and upcoming) design and ad industry trends

Requirements:

  • 3-5+ years of art director experience, ideally at a fast-paced agency.
  • Hands on experience with logo design, typography, color, web layout design, print production, image selection and package design.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio
  • Enthusiasm and desire to produce award-winning work
  • Exemplary portfolio of art direction and design sample
  • Ability to work efficiently and precisely in a fast-paced and highly-talented team
  • Ability to work on multiple brands and projects at once
  • Relevant educational background.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Working as part of a collaborative marketing team.
  • Assist team with communication pieces and firm branded materials including print materials, web pages, and social media for various clients.
  • Supporting Art Director in design and project execution, including but not limited to cleaning up files, making revisions, preparing work for print, and/or preparing presentation materials.
  • The junior graphic designer will have the opportunity to take responsibility for design assignments as directed.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of relative experience.
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign is a MUST.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Good communicator with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Equally attentive to big concepts and small details.
  • Ability to calmly juggle competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under short deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Detail oriented and have command of good craftsmanship.
  • Welcome to accepting feedback and allow for change.

Experience below is a plus, but not necessary:

  • BFA in graphic design or comparable corporate work experience.
  • Familiarity with the fundamentals of typography, image color correction, color separations, file preparation for production 
  • A basic understanding of print and digital production requirements/techniques
  • Skills in web design and HTML/CSS is a plus

Responsible for the production, modification and maintenance of websites and web applications’ user interfaces. This involves working closely with designers, using semantic markup language (i.e., HTML/CSS) to turn their static Photoshop designs into working browser-based web pages. Candidate will work to develop complex, interactive and database-driven responsive websites.

Responsible for:

    • Consult with the design team on information architecture for websites and alert team members when a feature request might cause scope creep or other loss of efficiency.
    • Providing accurate timing estimates on work.
    • Contributing to documentation (instructional, pitch and technical specification).
    • Managing and training other technical staff, particularly developers.
    • Training other non-technical staff, particularly designers.
    • Contributing to the company development standards working closely with the development team.
    • Discussing technical solutions with clients and team members and providing innovative new ideas for solutions.
    • Maintaining a high awareness of industry issues and trends, particularly in regard to accessibility, usability and emerging technologies, and keeping team members informed as appropriate, with a view to incorporating these in future projects and staying ahead of the market and positioning yourself and the company as a digital specialist.
    • Constantly seeking to develop yourself by learning new technologies and keeping abreast of your market’s developments.

Required Technical Skills:

  • 3+ years PHP
  • 3+ years WordPress development
  • 3+ years HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • SCSS / SASS / SCAA / LESS
  • eCommerce integration
  • MySQL Database or other database management system
  • Responsive development using bootstrap framework
  • Basic understanding of DNS

Experience below is a plus, but not necessary:

  • .NET
  • SQL
  • Angular, React, or similar JavaScript framework
  • Laravel or similar PHP framework
  • Adobe Creative Cloud (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign)
  • HTML email development
